SNHU 107 Module Six Journal Template Complete all parts of this template by replacing the bracketed text with your responses. Submit for grading and feedback. 1. Why do you think feedback from others is important? [I think it’s good to get feedback from others and get a glimpse of how they think you could possibly improve whether it be in how you present yourself, your work ethic, in your academics, or even in your personal life.] 2. Describe your perceptions regarding receiving feedback. How does receiving feedback make you feel? How can you improve your reaction to feedback? [My perception regarding feedback is that you may not like what you hear, but whoever is giving you the feedback is just trying to help you in the long run whether it be good or bad feedback. Receiving feedback might not always make me feel good about what I’m getting it on, but I always try to see that the person giving the feedback knows that I can do better. I can improve my reaction to feedback by looking at myself, the way I present myself, and how my work is being presented as well.] 3. Describe how you can use past feedback to inform how you give and receive feedback now. What have you learned from past experiences in which you received feedback? [When I was working in retail, the store I was working for was short staffed pretty much all the time, and I was able to make it on the management team very quickly. I had never been able to make decisions like I then had to do then. So, my boss called me into his office and was giving me feedback on how I was doing and managing other employees. I had a hard time understanding that my boss was trying to help me through feedback, but all I heard was what I was doing wrong, and how awful I was at being a manager. Eventually, I talked to some other mangers, and they helped me and gave me feedback in more of a casual setting and I didn’t feel as though I was under a microscope.] 4. Describe the impact that diversity awareness has on giving and receiving feedback when communicating and collaborating with others. What problems could you run into if you do not understand diversity awareness when communicating and collaborating with others? [The impact that diversity awareness has on giving and receiving feedback when communicating with others can be distorted. You could be giving great feedback and someone taking what you’re saying and thinking you’re being cruel and dismissive.] 5. Describe how you can use strategies for interacting with diverse groups of people as you give and receive feedback. [The strategies I would use giving and receiving feedback with diverse groups of people would be using simpler language, not using any jargon, and repeating the things I want to be clear on. Not all cultures will use the same jargon we do and if I use simpler language there will be less miscommunications. Repeating topics I want
to be understood on will also help with confusion by letting the group or person know what it is I’m trying to get across.]
