I believe in cross-cultural evangelism because regardless of a person’s culture, if they feel and have that desire to gain a better understanding of God and have a relationship with Him then that is the most important aspect. “Religions may be unique to a single culture group, closely related to the faiths professed in nearby areas, or derived from belief systems in distant locations” (Bjelland et al., 2022). Culture and religion do have a close relationship, but should a person’s culture dictate their religion and how they feel about certain religions? “Language and religion are both transmitters of culture and identifying traits of separate culture groups. Both have distinct spatial patterns, reflecting past and present processes of interaction and change” (Bjelland et al., 2022). I do not think that culture should dictate a person’s religion. “There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus” (Galatians 3:28 NIV).
I
think a functional method of evangelizing would be through the learning of languages. All languages are important and with the use of language a person can be effectively sharing the Word of God. “
Undoubtedly there are all sorts of languages
in the world, yet none of them is without meaning” (1 Corinthians 14:10 NIV). The Bible tells us
that each language is important and to effectively communicate, learning native languages to help spread the Word can be very rewarding. The Bible also tells us to use cross-cultural evangelism to help bring other to God and to an understanding of Him. “Go therefore and
make disciples of
all nations,
baptizing them
in
[
a
]
the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy
Spirit” (Matthew 28:19 NIV). Crossway International’s mission statement consists of “CrossWay International is committed to spreading the clear Gospel message of God’s grace throughout the world”. Different cultures should not be a barrier in sharing the gospel and brining more people the message God has intended for everyone.
