C o m m e n t a r y R e v i e w P a g e | 2 The Endless Diagnosis Of ADHD Being that there has been a rise in ADHD Diagnoses, what negative issues could arise from this phenomenon? Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder has been described as a typical onset of formative aggravation of pre-teens and teenagers (Banaschewski et al., 2017). ADHD isn’t just an American issue, it is prevalent throughout the world in all walks of life. There has been such a rapid upswing in ADHD diagnoses that doctors have been extra busy treating scholars and prescribing the needed medication. The issue here is there is so many misdiagnoses of children, over-determination, and the belief that sexual orientation can affect the symptom of ADHD. With the untimely onset of ADHD, it has been concluded that there is so much clutter in trying to diagnose ADHD. According to the CDC (2013), there have been reports of a 22% rise in the diagnoses of children with ADHD. With that being said, it has been determined that there has been over-determination in many clinics when it comes to deciding if someone is ADHD or not. Merten et al., (2017), has found that pre-teens have been misdiagnosed with ADHD when they clearly haven’t met the standards being measured to indicate they are having ADHD. Bruchmuller (2017) led an investigation that assessed whether a scholar fits the symptoms set by the CDC as having ADHD. 473 scholars were sent to psychotherapists to get inspected as to whether they truly had ADHD. Of the 473 students who got tested, 16% of the students were judged to truly be affected by ADHD. So the conclusion was that many of the standards to be diagnosed to have ADHD were false (Merten et al., 2017). In conclusion, this investigation proved that there has been proof that overdiagnoses of ADHD are a real thing. According to Mullet and Rinn, (2015), 75% of scholars meet the criteria of having ADHD. Over the last decade, being misdiagnosed happens because of emotional awareness

There is a rating scale teachers utilize in order to determine whether a scholar has ADHD. It seems that educators are the most experienced in dealing with ADHD scholars, as well as doctors and clinical experts who are essential in determining far-reaching evaluations for the scholars, they are counseling (Mullet, D. R., and Rinn, A., N., 2015). In order to lower the misdiagnosis of ADHD, there is a tool known as the Symptomatic and Measurable Manual (DSM) that will aid in this endeavor. In addition, sexual orientation seems to be another issue that helps in diagnosing whether a student is being diagnosed as an ADHD scholar. It is said that males are considered the majority in ADHD diagnoses. In fact, males outrank females 9:1 when it comes to ADHD diagnoses. It has been stated in studies that females display fewer negative social issues than young men. It is also shown that females also show less hyperactivity and forceful behavior patterns compared to young men. Fresson et al. (2019), have stated that Applied Neuropsychology Kids have studies displayed that ADHD is known to have the most effect on male teenagers. Young men have been shown as careless and hyperactive (Fresson, M., et al., 2019). Conversely, younger females have had very few absent-minded issues when it comes to making decisions and dealing with the grind of everyday activities.
