This news article is showing promise to provide data, that will help to reduce racial disparities with the county’s criminal justice system in Arlington, Virginia. This article offers information from both a government official and a nonprofit group that is trying find ways in reducing incarceration of Black people. This is a useful article as it provides
me with statistics on the differing rates of incarceration between Black people and white people. It will help me with the current closed research theme as it builds on the other readings about racial disparities within the criminal justice system in America. It is not only showing the issue but how they are trying to combat the issue, which would help to build a bridge for a difference that divides us. The Washington Post is well known for its
political news, and the author Rachel Weiner is a news reporter for The Washington Post since 2012. Ms. Weiner covered politics in the beginning but now she covers cops and courts within the Arlington and Alexandria, Virginia area. Ms. Weiner did not provide an opinion on the matter, but was able to get the perspective of different people and groups that are involved. Simkins, C. (2022).
