Option 2: Many experts see the media as biased and more like infotainment. In fact, many people have turned to social networks as an outlet for news instead of CBS, NBC, FOX, CNN and other news stations. Do you see this as an issue? Do you see the news as biased or unbiased? Should there be more restrictions on the news stations? I think that having biased media stations is definitely an issue, but it is up to the viewer population to learn how to filter out and recognize what is untrue information. To understand the structure and functions of the media is essential in assessing whether or not the news organizations are giving the citizens the information required for democracy to function successfully (Greenberg & Page, 2019). Today, many individuals consider the media as a source of information about what is occurring in the world as well as entertainment, and the number of Americans who try to keep up with local or community news is similar to those who follow national news, at 72% (KATZ, n.d.) . The desire for ratings has created shocking behaviors, such as the fast-paced nature of modern journalism and journalists' becoming partial to politicians, pouncing on the newest trend in popular opinion (Hallin, 1984). Even though the stations have different opinions, they are still biased. While CBS is more liberal, FOX is more conservative. There should be additional limitations on these news stations' ability to spread false information and hold them accountable. Due to these restrictions, the media will only be able to focus on reporting accurate news. Restrictions will prevent the media from utilizing diversions that will misinform. References Greenberg, E.
