Introduction: Thunder Farm and Brewery Thunder Farm and Brewery is in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. According to the company’s website, the brewery is the perfect spot for weddings, fun with family, and delicious beer and food. “This award-winning brewery is constantly researching trends in beer so we can offer the best products for our customers.” (Grand Canyon University, 2024) Additionally, the restaurant offers regular dining, hosts private events, weddings, a petting zoo, and much more. The event venue can be used by families or companies. Venues include the yard, farmhouse, and the barn. The restaurant is heated with two stories offering guests a Winter style wedding. They have a dance floor with lighting, petting zoo for children, and hayrides for guest. The brewery offers a full house for bridal parties, on-site photoshoots, and on-site wedding planning! Furthermore, the Brewery is doing well with its advertising as they have a user-friendly website and heavy presence on social media including Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest. They have the option to be reached by phone and/or email. The brewery has a lot to advertise as they have over eighteen beers brewed onsite, and they rely on local farms for their crops and grains. There is a heavy emphasis on the quality of its products and services since all the ingredients are sourced locally. The awarding chef is Charlotte Stemper who prepares the delicious meals with organic vegetables and herbs grown from the restaurant’s garden. They were voted best local farm of the year! There are a few opportunities of growth which include some of the advertising on the company’s website. The company website has no menu but mentions their food and ingredients several times. Most restaurants list their menus online so that guests can prepare by reviewing them ahead of time before dining in. Additionally, the website advertises certain events such as weddings, festivals, and a farmer’s market. There is more to mention about the brewery and there 2
should be more discussion surrounding the actual restaurant and dining experience. Next, the website only mentions activities relating to the month of October such as pumpkin carving or costume contests. There should be more mention of other activities that aren’t just related to the month of October. It is important to consider other activities to ensure you’re able to grab as much participation as possible. The brewery has the opportunity to increase their success and thrive in the market if they can make some major changes. Organizational Behavior and Structure of the Business “Organizational behavior (OB) is a field of study investigating the impact that individuals, groups, and structure have on behavior within organizations to apply such knowledge toward improving an organization’s effectiveness” ( Robbins & Judge ,2023). This area is a huge part of the Human Resources department but overall impacts the entire company. It focuses on improving the skills of the employees in order to drive success in a business. The business is heavily focused on their clients and their satisfaction. There are several testimonies on the company’s website to support this. The company is running its operations based on the requirements of the company and their customers satisfaction. Additionally, on the website there is no mention of the staff, careers, the company’s mission or vision is nowhere mentioned. The Models of Organizational Behavior According to Davis (1968), the models of Organizational Behavior are the autocratic model, the custodial model, the supportive model, and the collegial model. The supportive model would work best for Thunder Farm and Brewery. The company already does an amazing job highlighting customer satisfaction and how important that it is. This model allows the organization to focus on their other hugest asset, which are the employees. With this model, the 3
