Module Two Question 1 Describe one of the beliefs and values of the Navajo as illustrated in your readings. Like many other reservations, the Navajo was initially run by a federal appointee who implemented U.S. government-established policies. Numerous laws have been passed since the late 1800s in an effort to give the Navajo people sovereignty and self-determination. Reservations are now regarded as independent of local and state governments, albeit with certain restrictions. The Navajo follow their own legal system and government structure, which is not the same as the US government but somewhat similar. The Navajo Nation, for instance, has three branches of government: a president, a judicial system, and a body of delegates who represent the people. The nation does not, however, have a written constitution. 88 delegates from the various Navajo chapters make up the body of delegates known as the Navajo Nation Tribal Council. They hold meetings in their mother tongue (Washington & van Hover, 2011). More has been done to integrate traditional Navajo culture into the legal system since the late 1950s. As a reference for Navajo judges, "Fundamental Laws of the Diné," which include customs and laws from the traditional Diné culture, have been established (Washington & van Hover, 2011). The Navajo Nation Council (2002) states that the Laws of the Diné mandate that consideration be given to Navajo beliefs and values when rendering decisions. Furthermore, the country has a legally recognized Peacemakers Court that applies traditional dispute resolution techniques, predicated on the idea that "talking things over is the way to straighten out troubles" (Zion, 1998). Module Two Question 2 Describe one way in which the Navajo have incorporated their beliefs and values into the societal structure on the reservation since regaining some autonomy in the 1970's. By utilizing their religious and spiritual beliefs in addition to the use of medicinal medications that they believe will aid in the healing process and general health, the Navajo people have integrated their beliefs and values into the framework of society on the reservation. Module Two Question 3 What beliefs and values can be found in your culture? How do these beliefs and values influence your day-to-day life?
My culture is characterized by a number of ideas and ideals, including independence, freedom of speech, and religion. Independence has an impact on my daily life because it allows me to be who I want to be, choose whether or not to practice a particular religion, and speak my mind without fear of repercussions. Module Two Question 4 Adopt the social science perspective to create a list of questions about this issue. Write at least two questions each from the point of view of a psychologist, a sociologist, and an anthropologist. 1. Psychologist: How does a person's interface of themselves alter as said by how they're served in marketing? 2. Psychologist: In what ways does the ethnic portrayal in marketing bear on how an individual acts? 3. Sociologist: In what ways has the African-American community been impacted by the way they have been portrayed in marketing? 4. Sociologist: How does racial, and ethnic representation in marketing vary from chase to chase? 5. Anthropologist: How has racial, and ethnic marketing evolved all over time? 6. Anthropologist: How can we greater comprehend the distinct ethnicities to illustrate them greater in marketing?
