Differentiate between anatomy and physiology.
The difference between anatomy and physiology is that anatomy is the study of the human body through surgery and the examination of body parts and body tissue. Whereas physiology is the study of the functions of the human body through experiments, Anatomy studies
the body through methods such as but not limited to inspection, palpation, percussion, dissection and exploratory surgery (Saladin, 2021, p.2). Physiology studies the body through comparative physiology (Saladin, 2021, p.3).
Explain the characteristics of life
.
Characteristics of life is a collection of properties that help to distinguish living from non-living things (Saladin, 2021, p.13). The eight characteristics of life are Reproduction, Metabolism, Response to Stimuli, Heredity, Adaption through evolution, Homeostasis, Growth & Development, and Cellular Organization. An example for instance is a person’s body keeping
a constant internal temperature which is homeostasis. Another example of a characteristic of life
is when two humans’ mate and give birth to a child which is reproduction. One can remember the eight characteristics of life by remembering the phrase “Remember My Red Hat and Happy Green Coat.
What is homeostasis and why is it important?
Homeostasis is the body’s ability to detect change, activate mechanisms that oppose it and maintain relatively stable internal conditions (Saladin, 2021, p. 15). Homeostasis is important because it is the body’s way of being able to remain stable and adapt based on different scenarios.
